wall insulation

I saw a question on line about wall insulation: foam versus cellulose pros and cons.  I thought I would comment.  Cellulose is cheaper than foam for walls. There is definitely a drying time for the cellulose. Some people say 3 days while others say 2 weeks. As a company we have stayed away from the wet app because of the drying time and the uncertainty of putting wet stuff in a wall cavity and then the undetermined wait for the drying process. Cellulose is a good product and if you can wait for the drying time then it is a good option. Another option is total fill blown fiberglass which is what we use. You can specify no added formaldehyde, it counts as a Green Building shell insulation because it is total fill, fiberglass does have particles but by the time everything is finished and the building is cleaned it shouldn't be a problem. Foam is the best because of the sealing capability however the cost is an issue and our info tells us that, in terms of the overall picture, the walls are lower in priority than the windows and the attic insulation. If you are not foaming the roof deck for a sealed attic then I think foamed walls is overkill.
