5 Star Green Builder Rating

We just achieved our first 5 star rating on a remodel project! I feel so excited about this since the Austin Energy Green Building program is more designed for new construction. We have been rating our buildings for years but have, in the past couple of years made it a hallmark of our company to push the project as far as we can into a high green rating. This project was a complete redo of the interior of the residence including new windows and so we were able to do just about everything we needed to do to get the 5 star. Some of the main elements were: unvented attic, energy star windows, hard sustainable floors, fluorescent lighting, low water use landscaping, low voc finishes, test HVAC. Our project Manager did a fantastic job of building the job and keeping the Green approach foremost in his mind for the eventual rating.
